Grosvenor Museum Chester


Did you know the Roman name for Chester is Deva?

The Grosvenor Museum, situated in nearby in the centre of Chester, houses collections exploring the history of the Roman city, its art and silver heritage, and its natural history. There is a year round programme of special exhibitions and events. The Grosvenor Museum exhibition programme covers a diverse range of topics from the Vikings to portraits, habitats to transport. Most explore the subject’s links with Cheshire and the surrounding area.

The Museum has two special exhibition galleries. There is also a small Costume Gallery with a changing exhibition on the first floor of the Period House. Please note their is no lift in this building.
